Both coconut oil and Olive oil are healthy when used in moderation but you just have to know when to use them and when not to.
For example If you are going to use olive oil to cook with (which I actually don’t recommend), then make sure you only use it for light sautéing, as it becomes toxic when exposed to heat.
Olive oil actually has a low smoke point compared with say coconut oil, ghee or butter.
So it’s far better to cook with coconut oil ghee or butter when frying or roasting as this is stable at high temperatures.
When buying oils make sure to look for the following:-
Olive oil is wonderful when added to salads and used on food after it has been cooked, as it has such a lovely flavour.
You can also buy olive oil that is infused with things such as garlic, chillies, basil or lemon juice. All make a fabulous addition to your salads, because they enhance the flavour.
So for me, I prefer to use coconut oil for cooking and olive oil for a condiment to add to my food.
