To have good health as you age, you need to make sure you are eating good healthy foods.
Well it might sound obvious, but most people do not see the connection between what they eat and their health.
As we age it is more and more important to make sure that your body is getting the vitamins, minerals and nutrients it needs.
As you age everything starts to slow down. Metabolism is reduced meaning that your body burns less calories. It is for this reason normally, that as people age, they tend to reduce their calories and therefore then become deficient in essential nutrients the body requires.
The reason for this is you can use food to heal your body, make you feel younger, become more vibrant and be healthier.
Food is actually energy and information for the body. If we put dead nutrient deficient food in our body we cannot thrive, and this could be actually causing disease.
Generally, foods that can be stored in the fridge freezer are healthier options to choose, rather than packaged, processed foods that have a longer shelf life.
Rainbow coloured vegetables and fruits are good choices. I don’t mean literally rainbow coloured, I mean in order to get the whole spectrum of rainbow coloured fruit and vegetables in your diet on a daily basis, eat lots of different coloured vegetables.
Lots of fresh healthy grass fed, organic, pasture raised meats and wild caught fish.
Healthy fats are also important in your diet as fats (cholesterol) is needed to make hormones.
The fresher your food, the better, as the older food becomes the more it loses it nutrients.
So, in summary it is important to increase your consumption of fresh fruit, vegetables, healthy, fats, meats & Fish.
